So, by dragging, for example, a RAR file onto the main window, StuffIt Expander automatically uncompresses that archive. The file format support of StuffIt Expander is impressive. Adium is a native multi-protocol instant messenger. To be honest, Adium is the best IM client for a platform that doesn't have very good IM clients. Sadly, the worst part of switching to the Mac was letting go of Microsoft Live Messenger. Microsoft does have a messenger for Mac, but it is no good. Adium was, and still is, the best alternative on Mac.
